Dagmar Elbrandt works for 30 years at the Fachbereich Grünflächen (department which is responsible for public parks and green areas) in the Berlin administration. Since 1999 the Bezirksgärtnerei (city district gardening) is also part of her responsibilities.
The Bezirksgärtnerei at Grunewald is the last one of Berlin, says Dagmar Elbrandt. The plants the team of the gardening cultivates are sold to the other Berlin districts. For the public the Bezirksgärtnerei stays closed, although many people asked over the time where they could buy these "beautiful flowers".
Ben is doing his apprenticeship at the Bezirksgärtnerei. It is one of the rare places where the cultivation of ornamental plants is teached in the Berlin area.
