0,5 percent, 2017-2018

Chicken breeding is a rather unknown hobby. To be exact, only 0,5 percent of the chicken breeders do breed as a hobby. An insight into their world. 

Local chicken breeding exhibition in the Erlebnispark Paaren, Brandenburg. In the office of the club's chairman the decoration for the cages in which the chickens will be shown is already prepared. 

Rolf Graf is chairman of the poultry breeding club Brandenburg. He also manages the late registration for breeders at the breeding exhibition.

Two breeders prepare their chicken for the valuation of the judges. 

The chickens are judged by a panel of experts. The jury members walk through the rows and check whether the chickens meet the common standards and breeding goals for their breed. 

Particularly standout chickens are photographed for breeding magazines. The numbers on the boxes tell the photographer which chickens he already had in front of his camera.

The work has been shown at Photokina Cologne 2018 and got nominated for the German Youth Photoprize 2018.
